How we work

A well-led project starts with clear objectives, the right people and a shared plan. We establish how the project will work, then lead the team through delivery.

Stage 1

Define the brief

We start with what the client wants to achieve: the purpose of the project, the quality expected, the budget, the timescale and the decisions that matter. This becomes a clear brief the professional team can work to.

On a new project, we establish the foundations before commitments build. When joining a live project, we assess the existing position against those objectives and agree what needs to change.

Stage 2

Set the delivery strategy

We shape the delivery approach, select the professional expertise and bring the programme, commercial plan and procurement strategy together. Responsibilities and decision-making authority are established early.

The result is a shared plan for how the project will be delivered, with working processes that help the team collaborate, make decisions and remain accountable.

Stage 3

Lead the project

We represent the client and direct the team through design, approvals, procurement and construction. We bring the right people into each decision, resolve competing priorities and maintain momentum as the project develops.

Leadership continues beyond agreeing the plan. We manage delivery against it, address change and keep the client informed about performance and decisions.

Stage 4

Maintain oversight

We monitor progress, cost, quality and risk against the agreed objectives, with reporting that supports timely decisions. The management process adapts as the project moves through each stage, while maintaining clear accountability through completion and handover.

How the professional team works

The appointment establishes BREW’s authority, the expertise required and how the client retains oversight.

The client
Sets the objectives, approves the strategy and retains decisions reserved to the client. Specialist appointments and expenditure follow the agreed authority.
BREW
Establishes the brief, recommends the delivery approach, helps select and scope the professional team, directs the agreed work and reports on performance and decisions.
Appointed advisers and delivery team
Provide their professional or construction services against agreed scopes, responsibilities and deliverables. Technical, statutory and certification duties remain with the appropriately appointed parties.

Ways to appoint BREW

Appoint BREW from the outset, for a defined stage or to take an independent view of a live project.

Working arrangements

The client sets the objectives and retains the decisions reserved to it. BREW establishes the brief, directs the agreed work and reports on performance. Appointed professionals and contractors retain responsibility for their own disciplines and contractual duties.

The appointment defines scope, authority, resources, deliverables and reporting. We can work with the client’s existing advisers, help assemble a new team or bring in additional specialist expertise for a defined requirement.
